DailySquee.com – I Can Has Cheezeburger

I have now finished hacking down the frozen, wilted leaves on my elephant ear plants. I have dug up the two humongous bulbs and stored them in the garage in trash bins filled with peat moss and potting soil. They will stay there during the winter and then I’m HOPING to be able to replant them in the spring when the chance of freezes is gone.

This is what they looked like yesterday.
Today, after the freeze
Some of the stalks were taller than I am.
I had to dig about 6 inches or so down to get to the roots so I could pull out the bulb
I dug out both bulbs, plus a bunch of the roots of the purple-leafed stuff. (I have no idea what it is, but I like it. )
This is basically what the planter looks like now. I need to neaten things up a bit, but the work was harder than I thought it would be and this old lady needs to warm up and rest. :0)
