“Signs, Signs, Everywhere are Signs…”

More Fruits from my art room –

I love making these signs. They are 6″x8″ hard wrapped canvas boards. I have fun with my Unicorn Spit paint, let them dry, spray them with fixative. Let them dry again. Then I print the saying on them. I’m going to take these to Rags & Roses Collective in Greenwood to put in the booth I share with my good friend, Carla.

Name Cards

I made these name cards to add to my work in the local shop, Rags & Roses Collective, in Greenwood.  I’m hoping that people will enjoy them as something to put in a basket of goodies for a baby shower, include with a gift to a child, decoration for a child’s room or door, or….

I made 10 cards of boys’ names and 10 cards of girls names.  I’ll also include a sign that encourages people to preorder a card for me to make, giving me a name they don’t find in the ones I’ve made so far.

Rich in Friends

Adams All-Natural Cedar

Today I feel rich.

The Lunch Bunch – a group of long-time friends who has met every Friday possible for over 17 years now – FINALLY got to enjoy sharing lunch again for the first time since the start of the pandemic.

We were afraid that Mother Nature was going to rain on us, but she held off. The Pizza Barn has put up two picnic benches with umbrellas in the parking lot, and is about to put up another two.  Though it was gray and looked like it would rain very soon, we had a glorious time talking, grinning, laughing, and eating – catching up in person. It was truly wonderful to see their faces and laugh together for awhile. I’m still grinning.

I love our home. I have more things I want to do on any given day than I have the time or energy to do. I can honestly say I’m never bored. But there is nothing like sharing time with good friends to lift your spirits and feel that may sometime we will come to a new-normal that will be good once again.

After lunch I took my small signs with quotes to Rags & Roses Collective, the local shop where I share a booth with another good friend. I hope someone likes them enough to want to take them home or give them to one of THEIR friends.

Oh, I almost forgot. I listed the newest batch of earrings – the ones with studs or posts – on my earrings website, EyecatchingEarrings on Etsy, if you’re interested. There are separate sections for clip-ons, pierced with French Hooks, and pierced with studs or posts.

It’s very dark outside now. The forecast said we would get rain – up to 4 inches – by the end of the day on Sunday. Guess who will spends lots of time indoors!

Stay safe and well.

Fun in My Art Room

These are done on 6″ x 8″ canvas hard board. I used Unicorn Spit paint for the design and then acrylic paint for the quotes. They are sprayed with polyurethane for protection.

I’m planning to put these in Rags & Roses Collective, the local shop in Greenwood, where I share a booth called, “Blasing Bright” with my good friend, Carla.

I’m hoping that people will enjoy the quotes as much as I do, as good reminders.

Morning Errand

This morning I’m going to my booth in Rags & Roses Collective in Greenwood to change out the items in the booth I share there with my good friend, Carla. Joanna Brandt, the owner of the shop, is graciously allowing each of us to come on a scheduled basis, to refresh our booths before she hopes to be able to reopen in May.

I am wearing paint masks that I had in my art room these days.

In the meantime, Joanna is offering online payments for things plus curbside service for pickups. Wonderful customers are happy about this and coming to get great things from the shop during the shut down.

I am posting here, and on two local pages of Facebook to show what is in my shop, Blasing Bright.

Today’s postings are –

These are yellow/orange/rose/white hand-painted clip-on one-of-a-kind super light weight wooden dangle earrings. These are 1-1/4″ in diameter on the top disc, with a 3/4″ dangle attached. Total length of the earring is 2-1/4″. Painted plain orange on the backs. Clips and glue are nickel-free. They are on sale at Rags & Roses Collective for $9.99.

Adapting to Present Climate

Since most of us are under ‘stay-at-home’ orders or are staying home voluntarily, with most businesses shut down or trying to provide take out or curbside services, we are newly aware of how vulnerable and special our local businesses are.

I am trying to do what I can to try to BUY LOCAL and try to help people who provide services survive during the pandemic.

One wonderful local business is Rags & Roses Collective, 100 N. Main Street, Greenwood AR 72936. 479-597-3107. It is owned by a truly wonderful lady, Joanna Brandt. She is now offering online shopping with curbside delivery of your purchases. In these times where uncertainty is the norm, Joanna is a ray of sunshine for all us.

I am trying to create some online advertising of my own stuff from a booth I share there with Carla Woolbright. Our part of the shop is called, “Blasing Bright”

Today I am featuring three hand-painted journals –

This one is called, “Swirling Fall.” – 6-3/4″ x 6″ heavy cardboard spiral bound one-of-a-kind hand-painted journal. Inside has 10 manila ‘envelope pockets’ that can be used for photos, coupons, ticket stubs, mementos, and more. FUN, one-of-a-kind design.  $9.99 plus tax.

“Purple Bliss”

“Purple Petals”

If you would like one of these journals, please call Joanna at the number listed above. She will guide you through the process.

Thank you for supporting Greenwood businesses!

I’m especially happy today.

I’m excited about sharing a booth in a local shop with one of my best friends. It’s fun to see what sells, to plan what I want to add to the shop, to make new things for it. The owner of the shop is Joanna Brandt, and the shop’s name is Rags & Roses Collective. She has divided the shop into booths so that lots of people in the area have a chance to show and sell their wares. Our booth is called, “Blasing Bright.”  I have a group of new things to put in our booth today. The shop will be open today until 5:00, I think. Then Joanna will take a well-deserved vacation and will reopen Jan. 6th.

My family is doing well.

We will go to Lunch Bunch soon, joining our good friends for conversation and laughs.  It’s good to be able to share the good times (and help each other with the bad) as we watch one year turn into another.

My new shop – EyecatchingEarrings on Etsy – is coming together. I’m hoping to have it fully up and running by the end of the weekend, though the shop is open for business now. :0)

I hope you had a happy Christmas and that 2020 will be a wonderful year for you.

Hi, everyone.

I hope you had a wonderful day yesterday.

My husband was very complimentary about my kitchen efforts. In fact, he’s mentioned last night’s dinner twice today! We had a nice quiet evening. After we ate dinner, my husband showed me that he rented the movie “Downton Abbey” for me. He knows I loved the TV series and knew I wanted to see the movie, but this was a very nice surprise – particularly since he had no interest in it and escaped to the office with his Kindle. :0)

I LOVED the movie and highly recommend it. It seemed to me to be a stand-alone movie, not requiring that you had watched the series to enjoy it. For those who DID watch the series, it tied up loose ends and gave you a sense of what the future would hold for all the characters. I will purchase it for our personal collection when it is more affordable.

Today I have been gathering and marking things to take to the local shop. I have just finished that, so all I have to do is put the containers in the truck tomorrow after Lunch Bunch and go change things out.

I created a new shop on Etsy yesterday to display my painted wooden earrings. It’s called, “EyecatchingEarrings”  I am listing both pierced and clip-on earrings. They are hand-painted, light-weight, wooden one-of-a-kind designs in several different sizes and shapes that I’m hoping people will like. It’ll probably take me a day or two to finish getting all the earrings on the site, but it’s open now.

Have a wonderful evening!

Playing in My Art Room

The Artful Parent

I told you that I have given myself the Christmas present of time to play in my art room. I had a blast yesterday – cleaning a bit, but mostly playing.

I had to paint this tee TWICE because I forgot to spray it with the fabric sealer. DUH.  I wore it, put it in the washer and dryer, and it came out ALMOST completely plain green again. Thankfully, since the paint is water soluble, the paint didn’t get on anything else.  Here it is for the SECOND time – sprayed so the paint will last.

I also painted a group of note cards using a different technique than I have in the past –

If you’re interested. they will be listed on ArtworthyNoteCards on Etsy.  On about the 27th of December, they will be available at our booth (“Blasing Bright” in our local shop in Greenwood, Arkansas – Rags & Roses Collective, 100 N. Main Street. Hours: 11-6 Tuesday through Friday, 10-4 Saturdays.  The cost at the shop in Greenwood is $9.99 for the package of 5 cards.

The Open House

Rags ‘n Roses Collective

I arrived early to help set up in any way I could. Things started with a bang at 1:00 pm and were still going strong at 5:00 pm at the end. The weather was perfect and we had a LOT of people.

A wonderful man named Mike played a 12-string guitar and sang in the back. I kept wandering back there and listening to another song as many times as I could. He’s a nice, talented man, and I could listen to him for hours.

Santa sat at the front of the shop, patiently having his picture taken again and again with all who wanted to. There was a little girl who simply melted my heart when she was so ecstatic that Santa gave her a present and let her take a picture with him. She danced around and thanked him over and over. It was beautiful.

There was food at various places around the shop. A nice couple handed out samples of their wares. I ate a sample of apple butter and another of some French onion-y type dip. Both were delicious. I also found a chocolate chip cookie that was to die for. I made a serious effort to stay away from both the rest of the time I was there, but 5 hours is a LONG time…

I saw people I hadn’t seen in years. I hugged a bunch of wonderful necks and enjoyed catching up. I met new people, some of whom had booths in the shop. I looked at their booths, they came to the one I share with my friend, Carla. I met a lady who does really nice watercolors. It was NICE.

I did whatever I could to try to help during my time there. Mostly I just wandered around. I answered questions, helped people find things, applauded Mike for another song, picked up trash occasionally, finding a place to sit for a couple of minutes – ahhhh! – before getting up and wandering again.

Joanna, the owner of Rags n’ Roses Collective, was everywhere at once. There were two lines for payment – one for cash only and the other for credit and debit cards. There were still lines, but everyone chatted, seeming not to mind that at all.

It was a wonderful experience.

Our next thing is Ladies Night Out, December 5th, 6 – 8 pm. Rags ‘n Roses Collective, 100 North Main, Greenwood, Arkansas.

Hope to see you there!

Thoughts on a Sunday 11-10-2019

Beautiful World via George Dumaine

We just got home from grocery shopping and putting everything away. I’m now relaxing at my computer with a cup of coffee. Ahhhh!

First, I wanted to thank those of you who wrote encouraging messages about the way “Blasing Bright” looks, the booth that my friend Carla and I are sharing now at Rags & Roses in Greenwood, Arkansas. I think we managed to put things where they show up well, people can get to them to look more closely, and you’ve told me that it looks inviting. So THANK YOU. The shop is closed now until Tuesday, but I feel GOOD that I have some of my stuff ‘out there’ for people to see and possibly buy. If you’re in the area, the address is 100 North Main St.  The hours Tuesday through Friday, are 11:00 – 6:00. Hours Saturday are 10:00 to 4:00. This is the first time I’ve enjoyed a local venue, and I’m hopeful that Carla and I can share this booth for a long time.

I am planning to spend much of the day out in the yard – or at least as long as my back holds out – cleaning out flower planters. We’ve had several freezes and things are looking pretty sad now. Today has been named, “The last good fall day” for awhile by the weather people, with a cold front coming tomorrow, along with rain, possible wintry mix, and MUCH colder temperatures, so today is the day to do all I can to have our yard look like someone cares.

On cleanup after the ‘gathering-and-processing-for-the-booth’ I need to work in our office and my art room. These are on the back burner, though, as far as priorities, due to the coming weather. I can work on both of THEM when the weather deteriorates.

With all the activity around here, I have ignored my exercising and my poor old body is complaining LOUDLY. I’m going to see how the yard work goes, and then at LEAST get in my yoga practice this afternoon.

Enjoy your Sunday!
