It’s almost Easter, so the Lewis mailbox is decked out to celebrate Easter egg hunts and Easter rabbits!
You can’t see it in the picture, but there are holes in the metal for the rabbit’s eye, nose, and mouth. It took me forever to paint both sides of this metal, yet it looks SMALL to me now. The rabbit and egg are approximately 24″ tall.
Hopefully, he’ll make a few people smile as they drive past our driveway…

I promised a supportive blog reader that I would post some pictures when our Christmas Card Stairway was full.
We’ve done this for years, tying Christmas cards on our stairway uprights as they come in. By the time Christmas is here, we feel we have all our good friends and relatives with us. :0)
We had a white Christmas this year! I was hoping that it would look gorgeous (which it did) and then melt away quickly (which it didn’t.) Thank goodness our Honda truck has 4 wheel drive and good snow tires!
My son and I spent part of the day getting a batch of chili into the crock pot for tonight. My husband made a fire in the fireplace, so it’s nice and cozy in our living room.

Well, we did it. We actually had a white Christmas – in ARKANSAS – this year. One for the record books. It was a really PRETTY snow, too.
This is our driveway. It goes down the hill from what you see, some 650 feet, ending at the road. We braved it last night to take our trash down for pickup this morning. We did it again awhile ago in order to do errands. Thanks to our Honda truck, with it’s “4-wheel-drive-when-it-thinks-it’s-necessary” and our great Blizak snow tires, we didn’t have any trouble. But I don’t think we’ll have any Fedex or UPS deliveries today…
As you can see, our metal ‘critters’ got a snoot full. The robot looks like he’s yelling for help. :0)
Kind of pretty, isn’t it! We got 4 inches “officially,” but we got 6 inches or more here, on top of our ridge line.
So, we had a beautiful white Christmas. I’ve taken pictures, we’ve gone out and played in it, and now it’s time for it to GO AWAY!

Since we don’t have small children anymore, we slept in this morning. I came downstairs to find my husband cooking breakfast! He’s in our shop now, puttering around – he loves spending time in what he calls, “the best gift he’s ever received, other than ME.”
Our son is sleeping in, having stayed up all night working on his computer. He’s trying to shift to our time, but it’s not bothering us. Having him home is our present this year.

The “Featured Piece of the Day” on Creative Artworks is my hand-painted Christmas Basket!
This is a one-of-a-kind hand-painted wooden basket by me, Linda Lewis.
The oval basket is 11″ long x 9.5″ wide x 7 ” tall. (The basket is about 13.5″ tall with the handle extended straight up.) The dimensions of the inner basket at the base are approximately 8″ x 6″.
The “squares” created by the weaving are painted either red, green, or metallic gold. Holly with bright red berries is painted on both sides and on the handle. Snow has fallen on the basket, along with some gold glitter.
One side of the basket says, “May peace be your gift at Christmas and your blessing all year through.” (Unknown). The other side says, “It is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the air.” W. T. Ellis. Use as a centerpiece, to hold Christmas cards, and more!
